do you ever feel like your hair is lacking some oomph, after drying it? well, knowing how to effectively blow dry your tresses, could be the answer.

how to do a bouncy blow dry at home

adding body to your hair doesn’t have to be difficult, with a few tweaks to your routine you could be able to elevate your styling skills. from selecting the right products to mastering the technique, our 8 simple steps could help learn how achieve a bouncy blow dry at home

1. wash with volumising products

it all starts in the shower. this is the perfect time to prime your locks for added va-va-voom.

instead of opting for your regular hair wash products, try a formula that is designed to add body to your strands, like our 3d volume and thickening shampoo and conditioner.

infused with hydrolysed vegetable protein, this collection offers a weightless formula that works to help lift the root and give the illusion of fuller looking locks.

this duo also works to clarify your mane, helping to ensure there’s no product build-up that may weigh it down, and cause unwanted flatness.

2. towel-dry your hair

before you grab your towel and start rubbing it over your locks, we recommend gently blotting it dry.

this technique could be kinder to your locks as it may limit the friction that could lead to frizz and breakage. following this step before blow drying may help to remove excess moisture and reduce the time and heat needed to dry your hair. supporting healthier and smoother-looking locks.

3. apply styling products

the next secret to achieving voluminous locks is selecting your styling products. whether you prefer oils, creams, sprays or powders, choosing the right one is crucial for adding lift to your hair.

aside from heat protectant spray (an essential for every heat-styling session), we also recommend using a volume spray, like our brooklyn bombshell blowout spray.

simply, apply the spray in sections, distributing it evenly from the roots to your ends.

for even more height, our 3d thickening treatment, could further enhance your look by helping to give the illusion of thicker-looking strands.

4. rough dry your hair upside down

to start drying , use a normal hair dryer, tip your head upside down and begin to dry the underside of your locks. do this until they’re 70-80% dry, then flip your mane back over.

concentrate the heat on the roots to ensure they’re thoroughly dry, this should help to add volume and bounce.

5. work in sections

once you’ve roughly dried your locks, it’s time to start dividing it up into sections.

this is a crucial step, as it helps to ensure you don’t accidentally leave any damp, flat spots.

as a guide, we recommend separating your hair into three parts: temple to temple, ear to ear and the nape (the bottom part of your hair, near your neck).

depending on your thickness, you may need to reduce the size of these, so they can be secured properly with a clip or hair tie.

once you’ve separated each part, you’re ready to start your voluminous blowout.

6. choose your tool

choosing your hair tool is crucial for achieving your desired look, especially if you’re wondering how to add volume

for this finish, opt for a hair dryer or a hot brush like our hair round blow dryer brush 2.0. if you’re using your usual dryer, you’ll need to use a round-brush to assist.

7. begin to bouncy blow dry

working section by section, place the blow dryer brush under your hair and brush down from the root. go over each section a couple of times until it’s dry, then finish each section by curling the brush inward to create the perfect bouncy blow dry (the more you curl the brush inward, the more bounce you’ll get).

expert tip: when drying your hair, guide it against the direction that it lies, for maximum volume.

for that salon blowout finish, emphasis should be placed near your crown, making sure the hair here is lifted.

alternatively, to achieve this with your hair dryer, start by using a round brush to lift the hair at the roots, directing heat upwards for added volume. finish by setting the style with a cool blast of air to help  enhance shine and hold.

continue the process until the strands are dry and styled. although this may take a little patience to begin with, the results speak for themselves - practice makes perfect, after all!

8. set in place

the last remaining step to mastering a bouncy blow out is locking it in place with a quick spritz of hairspray.

our fluxus touchable hairspray works to maximise the life of your blowout while helping to shield your strands from high humidity, which could influence the body of your locks.

for extra hold, instead of misting the bottle all over your mane, focus on the root, and then for further oomph, grab a texturising spray, like our un done volume and matte texture spray.

top tip: for ease, you could flip your hair upside down and spritz the texture spray on the underside of your locks to help get as close to the root as possible and build volume.
